Articles of Faith

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2

Articles of Faith

1. We believe in the one true and living God, consisting of the Father, Word, and the Holy Ghost. 1 John 5:7
2. We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God and the only safe rule of faith and practice. 2 Tim 3:16
3. We believe in the doctrine of the unconditional election, and that God chose His people in Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world. Eph 1:4-5
4. We believe in the doctrine of original sin. Rom 5:12, 17, 18
5. We believe man is unable to recover himself from his fallen state of death by nature. John 6:44
6. We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the imputed righteousness of Christ. Rom 3:24
7. We believe that God’s elect are called, regenerated, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Rom 8:33-34
8. We believe the saints shall be preserved in grace and shall never fall finally away. 1 Pet 1:3-5
9. We believe that baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances of Jesus Christ and that the true believers are the only subjects of baptism and that immersion is the scriptural mode. Acts 8:35-37

1 Cor 11:25-27

10. We believe that as Jesus Christ washed His disciple’s feet, we ought to wash one another feet. John 13:14
11. We believe in the resurrection of the dead when Christ shall come to gather His jewels; that the felicity of the righteous and the punishment of the wicked will be eternal. Matt 25:34-46

1 Cor 15:49-54

12. We believe that no minister has any right to administer the ordinances of the church except those who have been regularly or scripturally baptized, called of God and come under the imposition of the hands of the presbytery. Jer 1:5
13. We believe that none but regularly baptized members have a right to commune at the Lord’s table. Luke 22:11

John 13:5

About

For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Burnet Primitive Baptist Church is located in the Hill Country of central Texas approximately 35 miles north of Austin, Texas on Hwy 29 just outside the town of Burnet, Texas. This is some of the most scenic country in the state, abounding with lakes, rivers, and hills of splendor. It is also the location of this beautiful assembly of the saints of the Lord Jesus Christ, Burnet Primitive Baptist Church.

For just over forty-three years, this band of believers has been faithfully assembling together to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth, continuing to contend for the faith once delivered to the saints. The congregation is not large in number, but they are faithful in heart as they meet every first, third, and fifth Sunday.

The Church is not defined by its name. The true Church is identified by the landmarks that are defined by the truth of God’s word. Truth is not relative to what man thinks. Truth is absolute because God is absolute truth. Therefore, truth in doctrine and in practice does matter.

The Burnet Primitive Baptist Church desires to worship in Spirit and in truth. Our Articles of Faith are included on a page in this site. A more detailed explanation of these articles is available upon request. To summarize our doctrinal belief, we believe that God is sovereign and Holy. We hold to these doctrines: Original Sin by Adam’s transgression; Total Depravity of all Adam’s race; Unconditional Election of God’s People before the world began; Limited or Special Atonement; Effectual Calling (Regeneration or New Birth) of every child of Grace; and the Preservation of the Saint to an inheritance reserved in Heaven. Finally, we look forward to the promise of our Lord Jesus’ return to gather every one of his elect people in the resurrection of the just and unjust alike. Not one of the Christ-justified Elect will be lost. The unjustified will be judged according to their works and cast into the Lake of Fire (Hell) forever.

The practice of the Church is also Biblically defined. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church. He placed within her the two ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. He also gave the example in discipleship of the washing of the Saint’s feet. We observe these two ordinances and feet-washing twice a year. Baptism (immersion in water) is defined as not the putting away the filth of the flesh, but an answer of a good conscience toward God. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial to His death.

If these principles interest you, COME AND SEE!

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the comfort found in the simplicity of worshipping in Spirit and in truth.
